Morecambe Bay is a large estuary in the Northwest of England that drains much of the southern Lake District. It is an area with numerous river mouths and large expanses of mudflats and sand that provides an important habitat for wildlife. It is also an area with fast tides, quicksand and an infamous history.
While the crossing across the mouth of the estuary, between Fleetwod and Barrow in Furness, is relatively short at 9 nm, it still demands some good planning and good weather. Morecambe Bay's reputation is never far from your mind as you start out.

Note: To count this crossing must start or finish to the West of the River Wyre and Foulney Island.
