Canvey Island is a low-lying island bordering the mouth of the Thames Estuary, separated from mainland Essex by a number of muddy creeks. Canvey also straddles two incongruous worlds of sea-side tourism and the petro-chemical industry.
With a lap of around 21 km it is not the longest of PSK circumnavs but the featureless creeks that dry at low-water make for an all-or-nothing nav challenge to match the hard paddling required on such a short fast lap.

Get it wrong on this one and you are going straight to a muddy world of frustration and muttered curses!

Note*.
Billy Butler freely admits to portaging on this lap: "I got lost in the marshes and had to portage over a mud bank, twice." So while this one won't count for the record, Billy is happy for us to include this lap to get the PSK ball rolling for Canvey Island.
